A residential renovation in Dix Hills — not a new construction. An existing traditional house, kept entirely, was brought forward: the siding repainted, the trim drawn tighter, a board-and-batten gable added over the detached garage, and the interiors rebuilt room by room. The bones stayed. The finish was rewritten.

The Residence
Movement 01

The Residence

The traditional massing kept intact — the brick chimney, the covered porch, the white columns all left as found, with only the surfaces renewed.

The Detached Garage
Movement 02

The Detached Garage

A board-and-batten gable drawn over the existing carriage doors, black sconces set to a single line — new work made to read as though it were always there.

The Gabled Wing
Movement 03

The Gabled Wing

The existing gable window assembly kept and re-glazed, the porch railing and lattice rebuilt to the original profile.

The Side Entry
Movement 04

The Side Entry

A single glass door and three fixed panels set beside the garage, the paver walk relaid so the route reads as one continuous line.

The Shower
Movement 05

The Shower

A frameless glass enclosure on a brushed nickel track, the marble run to the ceiling so the corner reads as a single plane.

The Vanity
Movement 06

The Vanity

A charcoal cabinet under white stone, the wall behind drawn in vertical fluting — texture standing in for ornament.

The Double Vanity
Movement 07

The Double Vanity

Two mirrors and two sinks held in one corner, the taupe fluted wall carried down to meet the stone countertop.

The Wet Room
Movement 08

The Wet Room

An open shower with a linear drain and a recessed niche, the greige tile laid flush so the grout all but disappears.

The Ladder Rack
Movement 09

The Ladder Rack

Stainless steel set against fluted grey — the detail turned to where the hand meets the room.

The Floating Vanity
Movement 010

The Floating Vanity

Warm wood set against dark veined stone, the blackened fixtures drawn to a single dark line against the marble wall.
